The RDVF is pleased to be affiliated with The 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division Association. The Association is based in New York State. The Association shares in the mission goal of the RDVF by perpetuating the deeds and sacrifices of its Soldiers and Preserving its History. The Association supports the RDVF by volunteering to represent The RDVF at memorial ceremonies and other official functions in the Greater NYC area. In addition the Association has made donations to the RDVF Scholarship fund through the years from fundraising events it holds.
The Association is a fraternal organization of former and present members of the 42nd Infantry Division. Their goals are:
- Maintain Comradeship
- Provide timely information to is membership via quarterly guest speakers
- Care for our fallen soldiers and their families
- Increase overall membership in the Association
The Association attempts to accomplish its goals by embracing the Regional Chapter configuration. The Association currently has two Regional Chapters; The Downstate Chapter (Five Boroughs/Long Island) and the Hudson Valley Chapter. Each chapter meets quarterly for lunch/dinner to share in camaraderie. Chapter leadership includes: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. The Associations’ role in monitoring chapter activities is one of “Oversight.” Both Association and Chapters are governed by procedures set forth in our By-laws. The Association has several social events each year which includes a West Point Golf Outing and Annual Meeting Dinner. The RDVF is pleased to be affiliated with The Millennium Legacy Association of the 42nd Infantry “Rainbow” Division. The Association shares in the mission goal of the RDVF by perpetuating the deeds and sacrifices of its Soldiers, preserving and sharing its history through RAINBOW TRAIL, its biannual history newsletter, researching Rainbow history for veterans, families and descendants, educators and historians and providing personal contact through its Facebook page. The Association supports the RDVF by volunteering to represent the RDVF at memorial ceremonies and other official functions.
